There are so many things I want desperately to blog about that never come to fruition because there's no time to do all the research and write all the details- however enjoyable I know the whole process will be... sigh.
With that said, do you know Mela Koehler's work? She was born in Vienna in 1885 and was a part of the Wiener Werkstätte. If you have ever studied women's roles in the arts in the first half of the 20th century, you will know how extraordinary it was for a woman to have made a living as an artist / illustrator / graphic designer. Her work is beautiful. Best of all for us modern-day admirers, you can still find original lithos and postcards of her work for very reasonable prices. And prints galore! The last image is a detail from a current Ebay auction. A tip for you!: make sure to also search for her under the German spelling of her name: Mela Köhler. And let me know what you come up with!
