How beautiful are these cutting boards by Edmonton-based designer Geoffrey Lilge? Made from Walnut and Maple, these boards come in a variety of covetable, dare I say collectible shapes. Growing up among woodworkers, potters & musicians in a commune in Alberta, Lilge got an early start and has spent the past four years prototyping and testing these gorgeous boards. Specifically designed to be nice to hold, each board is also hand polished with natural oil and given a beeswax finish. Priced at $150-250 each, you are paying for something that's made by hand from quality materials; something sure to be cherished for generations! Onto my Christmas list, you!

Addinterior's new Lili table was designed by Takumi Hirokawa while their Lean lounge chair is by GamFratesi. Still, they make a perfect pair.

materia / cork

Materia is a collection of objects made from cork; a collection that's brought to you by a company called Amorim, the cork biz industry leader. Here's a sampling of the 12 projects by 10 designers that highlight this sustainable, and quite handsome, material:

jasper morrison does it again! bac one & two for cappellini

Favorite chairs from last week's Il Salone del Mobile 2011 in Milan? Jasper Morrison's gorgeous solid ash upholstered dining chairs. They're new additions to his Bac collection for Cappellini. Bac Two features a rounded back while Bac One has got to die for Grand Prix-esque proportions.

österlen chair & table / inga sempé

What a lovely wooden chair- and table too. Their designer is Inga Sempé, my favorite. Her creations have been drooled over in this blog since its start. She just makes such beautiful, perfect objects and furniture. Just look at the details that prettify this simple wooden chair. Notice the slice taken out of the backrest for comfort's sake, and the matching cuts at the feet & joints. The same details are present in the modestly sized table. It's 70cm squared (roughly 27.5"), perfect for small spaces, but with those lovely legs and indentations, imagine how amazing several of them would look stacked together (Take note about-to-open stylish restaurants!!). The Österlen chair and table are made from solid & ply Ash and are manufactured by Swedish company Gärsnäs.

zeitraum's bonny

I'm rather taken with Bonny, the new drool-inducing, sculptural (poetic!) mirrors from Zeitraum's 2011 collection. Bonny is designed by Formstelle, the talented design duo also responsible for this top-of-my-wish-list piece.

elisa strozyk; accordion cabinet

The Accordion Cabinet is a new, brilliant piece by the talented Elisa Strozyk, created in collaboration with artist Sebastian Neeb. It's made from mixed woods and Strozyk's brilliant creation: wooden textiles. If you haven't seen her top-of-my-want-list pendant light, Miss Maple- you must! Have a look here.

michäel verheyden; when objects work

Gorgeous materials and simple shapes are the focus of Michäel Verheyden's Coupe - Cône Collection for Belgium's When Objects Work. Featured: sculptural bowls in solid oak, solid walnut & leather.

tonal woods

Leif.designpark's Tone Collection for De La Espada makes gorgeous use of a mix of woods. The handsome facade of their chest & cabinet both feature equal doses of solid American black walnut, American cherry and chestnut. The Tone Chair is inspired by traditional Japanese marquetry. Choose either American black walnut or oak for its base and think carefully before deciding on the wood veneer combo for the seat. There are five truly amazing colourways to choose from, using woods as exotic (but always sustainable) as bubinga, shedua, and American sweetgum. Yum! Chair material details found here.

elisa strozyk; miss maple

This is one of these most beautiful designs I've seen this year. Miss Maple is a flexible lampshade made from a solid material; wood. Textile designer (and recent graduate of Central Saint Martins with a Masters degree in Future Textile Design) Elisa Strozyk has created something brilliant she calls Wooden Textiles. The material involves deconstructing wood into triangles that are added, by hand, to a textile base, creating a flexible wood fabric.

So brilliant, so beautiful.

The last image shows a detail of Strozyk's Wooden Textiles. Rest assured, this young designer has several swoon-worthy pieces featured on her website.
