Déchirer,
en français, means to tear or rip up. Patricia Urquiola's Dechirer
Collection for Mutina features stunning ceramic tiles that look as
though they were recently unearthed and expertly restored; ready for
worship.
Urquiola via the Mutina site:
I’m
very interested in working on large-size formats, such as cement
modules and unusual shapes such as hexagons. And I’m also fascinated by
the idea of creating an industrial product in which traces of the
layers of history are present, a product with a personality.
Bas-reliefs of different heights which are not so much decorations as
the remains of torn away memories.
The tiles come in several different sizes and 5 shades. The larger tiles feature the exact same repeating pattern and sizes go up to a generous 120 x 120 cm/ 47 x 47". Also, they're intended as wall or floor tiles. Lots and lots of potential to make huge changes to a space!
